Kinjal & Herit

Lake Como, Italy

Kinjal and Herit’s wedding at Villa Balbiano was as intimate as it was extraordinary, with just nine guests gathered against the sweeping backdrop of Lake Como, Italy. For Kinjal, every element was layered with meaning. She journeyed across India to design custom gold-based jewellery, honouring her Gujarati heritage and creating heirlooms for generations to come, including a wedding set by Shri Paramani Jewels in Delhi and reception pieces by Shobha Shringar in Mumbai. Among her treasures were her great-grandmother’s 22k gold patli bangles, worn by three generations of women before her, a symbol of continuity and blessing. The choice of Villa Balbiano carried its own poetry—first seen on a family trip in 2021, it became the setting of her mother’s playful prediction and later, a promise from Herit during their first international trip together. Kinjal planned the wedding herself to preserve creative control, favouring vibrant, exotic florals over trends and building genuine friendships with each vendor along the way. Her bridal style echoed this philosophy of timelessness, from a Rani pink Tarun Tahiliani saree that mirrored her mother’s wedding look to a gold-beige reception ensemble that glowed against the Como landscape. Together, the couple curated a celebration that felt personal and alive with colour, a true reflection of their love story.

“We had a Hindu Gujarati ceremony. We knew the significance of incorporating the traditions and maintaining the religious aspects which were important for both families. We only had nine guests including us, the bride and groom. Which is very rare for an Indian wedding. It was a peaceful warm intimate feeling we got with our families that we will cherish for a lifetime. We didn’t want to get lost in our own wedding. Instead, we wanted to fully and completely be ourselves with the people who understood us the most.”

“The ceremony solidified our bonds and our commitment to each other, to accept each other, that her sorrows are mine, her happiness is mine, and an absolute responsibility to take care of her and vice versa. It solidified our commitment that we had already been practicing as our relationship grew before marriage.”

-Herit, The Groom
